Like most women, I think the search for the perfect mascara is an ongoing journey throughout their lives. Or maybe I'm just particularly mascara-obsessed... :-o
For years I would try the latest and greatest mascara that promised all the things that are important to me; lengthening, and volumizing without clumping.
Some mascaras would lengthen by including fibers in their formula that would hang off the tips of your lashes - artificially making them appear longer. But they always ended up flaking off onto my face. :-P
Other brands promised to volumize but the formula was so thin it would take way too many coats to achieve a nice full look, and end up creating the dreaded 'spider leg' lashes.
A few years ago I discovered Mally Beauty's award-winning Volumizing Mascara, (www.MallyBeauty.com). After trying it, and absolutely loving it, I considered it the 'holy grail' of mascaras - and consequently, I stopped looking for any other mascara to take its place.
Not only did it lengthen, (without fibers), but the formula was thick enough to volumize in just 2-3 coats without clumping.
She released a new mascara called Legendary Lashes. And,from the testimonials I read online, it sounded so incredible I absolutely HAD to try it!
After the Legendary Lashes Mascara arrived, I immediately tried it on clean lashes.
At first, I found it performed as promised. It thickened, and stretched out the lashes to achieve a nice amount of volume and length.
But, about 30-60 minutes after it dried I noticed that it would very easily rub off with the slightest brush of a fingertip across my lashes. And, sure enough, by the end of the day I had the dreaded 'racoon look' with mascara coming off under my eyes. :(
What a disappointment!
This is a problem that I have never experienced with Mally's Volumizing Mascara. Even when I wear my super emollient eye creams and under-eye concealers.
So, here are a couple observations; I am presuming that because of the ability for Charlotte Tilbury's mascara to come off that it is not at all water-resistant, (which Mally's Volumizing Mascara is).
But I did love the lengthening and volumizing it added to my lashes.
So, for me, the only solution, (if I want to wear Charlotte Tilbury's Legendary Lashes), is to use it as a lash primer, applying it to clean lashes then sealing it in with Mally's Volumizing Mascara on top.
Perhaps if you do not plan on wearing Legendary Lashes Mascara all day long, and/or you don't happen to wear an emollient under eye concealer/eye cream, and never rub your eyes throughout the day, you may be able to wear Charlotte Tilbury's new mascara without a problem.
For me, I will finish the tube of Legendary Lashes I bought by sealing it with Mally's mascara.
But, honestly, once it's gone I would likely not purchase it again.
Mally's Volumizing Mascara is still the best - in my book! :-D
P.S. I should add that the one negative I've experienced with Mally's mascara is that it really only performs at its best for about 1 1/2 to 2 months of daily use. Maybe even less than that if you spend a lot of time with the brush out of the tube in the air during application.
Today's mascaras are formulated to be fast drying, and as a result they simply don't last that long. Especially volumizing mascaras whose formulas already start out a bit thick in consistency.
After 1 1/2 to 2 months, your tube will not be empty. But, you will definitely notice it begins to perform poorly; it will flake a lot, and go on clumpy. That's when you know it's time for a new tube.
The good news is that Mally's Volumizing Mascara is fairly cheap to purchase. At the time of this writing it is $20 a tube on MallyBeauty.com, (as compared to CT's Legendary Lashes which is $32 a tube). You can find Mally's wonderful Volumizing Mascara for even less on QVC.com where it is just $28 for TWO tubes! :D
